Succeeding As An Exporter

From the Desk of Ryan Binkley

A few weeks ago I came across an interesting article from the National Center for the Middle Market (NCMM) focusing on how middle-market companies can become exporters of their products. Too often it seems that U.S.-based companies forget that there may be an entire world out there in need of their goods and services.

Business owners sometimes assume that they are too small, and the process far too complex, for them to enter the export market. However, according to the NCMM, “54% of U.S. middle market companies export to foreign countries.”

I was pleasantly surprised to read this statistic; but what it tells me is that there is tremendous opportunity out there for middle-market business owners to begin exploring an export strategy. Keep in mind that buyers look for companies with diversified revenue streams. If you have a solid U.S. base and a growing export market, many buyers will see this as a plus.

I hope that “How to Succeed as a Middle Market Exporter” from the NCMM is helpful for you as you consider your growth plans.
